This  hidden Gold Rush town is off the well-beaten path that existed well before California became a state. The town became home to some of the roughest characters of the Gold Rush and had the reputation for being a hide-out for many criminals including Juaquin Murrietta, who was said to have committed many robberies and murders in the early 1850’s.

There are many signs and artifacts in various stages of decay.  There are no businesses – gas stations, grocery stores,  ATMs or much of any thing else except a single bar that is open only on weekends.
